It's been a while...........

It's been a while since I left off on my last blog. I'll see if I can bring you up to date on my exciting life.  I have to be extra careful and observant when I get up in the AM.  I bump into anything that gets in my way.

My first trip is into the bathroom. After I get to the bottom of the stairs, I find out that I ended up in the cellar.  After fumbling around down there I decided to straighten up and do it right the next time.

I never claimed to be a chef but I learned to get a breakfast as good as the next guy, except that I might make some weak coffee or put orange juice into my cereal.  And that is because I ran out of milk.

When I finally get organized it is time to head to the shop (workshop that is), where I planned to design a sign of my open hours. I usually open at 9am, in case I'm held up at breakfast, I don't open til 10. Sometimes I may not be there because I might be somewhere else.  In that case I won't open til 1pm.  Sometimes I might have to cancel that schedule if I take a long lunch.  Always call ahead to be sure to catch me at those hours.  If you get a busy signal, it's possible I left the phone off the hook.  If you can't get me by phone, you can get me by email, the only thing about that is I don't have a computer?  But keep trying I plan to be here sometime.

In the meantime I'll take some time off and see if I can straighten out this schedule thing.  And you think you have it tough? Make sure to check out some of my new items that are listed and for the month of June and July I will be taking 10% off all purchases.

Summer Hours

HA HA!!!
So you thought you got rid of me for the summer, well I'm back in all my glory.  Now, that said, I forgot what I was going to say. Oh yes, I'm doing some more of that fish carving, but business has been kind of slow since I had a new sign painted.  The guy goofed up when he made my new sign. I replaced it with my own version. Open every other day from 10am-11:30am if I get up before 7am.  If I should over-sleep I'll be open the following tues in the afternoon about 3:15pm, if I don't forget. However if the light is not on in the shop, come to the house door and knock, I should be there unless I've gone somewhere else.  Most of the time I'm prompt with my shop hours. But it's best that people call ahead in case I'm near the phone so they don't make a useless trip and waste that precious gas. "Cheers till next time"

P.S. My phone number is unlisted :0)

For the Ducks

I've checked my dictionary to find the definition of a "Blog". I've found nothing but hope to find it in websters newest edition. I'm still spending some time in my comfortable work shop doing some odds and ends and enjoying the warmth of my wood burning stove. I walked out to the back of the shop and was somewhat startled to see two mallard ducks sitting comfortably just 25 feet away from me. I assumed they would spook as soon as they saw me. They, however didn't move as I slowly backed away to allow them to continue resting. I then went into the house for lunch, after a half and hour I came out to find them waddeling down the driveway toward the gravel road and down to the brook which crosses the road. A rare and exciting event for me on a dreary and rainy day!

I also have more wildlife events as I sit at my work bench with my picture window in front of me, I can watch various species of birds at the feeder plus the swift and playful hummingbirds playing tag with one another.  These are just a few of the wildlife events that entertain me at any given time. I guess I've 'blogged' enough for this time and hope to bore you again with another one real soon-

Daily Activities

Today I took a short walk (26 steps) to my taxidermy and fish carving shop at about 9 am after I yawned and stretched from a good nights' sleep. The shop was cozy warm with the wood stove waiting for a few more logs to continue the 70 or so degree temp. While the March wind howled up a storm. I debated as to what might interest me to work on for the day. There was no shortage of what to do. I decided to carve another, of the many species of trout now in various stages of process on my shop bench.  I decided on a Brooky (my favorite) fish.  Tracing a template on to a piece of tupelo wood, cutting out the model and it was ready for the exciting part of the actual carving.  And would you believe the phone rang and I got into a prolonged conversation and had to abandon my plans for the day.  But I'll be back another day to finish where I left off. In the meantime keep your eye on my blog!
